Mission Statement

The mission of the Long Beach Police Foundation is to foster visible and direct community support to enhance the programs and services of the Long Beach Police Department and promote public safety in Long Beach.

The Role of the Foundation

The Long Beach Police Foundation (LBPF) will champion community support for the professional men and women who fulfill the public safety mission of the Long Beach Police Department. LBPF will formally begin operating in June 2007 when the Foundation Board, made up by a group of distinguished leaders from Long Beach's business, civic, religious and academic communities, will meet for the first time.

LBPF is a 501© (3) tax exempt non profit foundation and utilizing the generous contributions of our fellow citizens will enhance the Long Beach Police Department's efforts in three vital areas:

Community Partnerships - Programs that enhance the relationship between the community and the Long Beach Police Department
Employee Development - Training and employee recognition
Police Service Enhancements - Equipment and technology

“The LBPF enhances the effectiveness of the LBPD by providing resources not covered in our city budget. Now, more than ever, the work of the LBPF is essential to assist us in meeting the many challenges faced by modern law enforcement.” --Anthony W. Batts, Chief of Police

The role of the Foundation is not to displace funding for basic law enforcement, or to reduce in any way the responsibility of the City of Long Beach to commit the necessary funding for law enforcement services for its citizens. However, as modern law enforcement tasks continue to become more complex, the Long Beach Police Department, similar to police departments across the country, has increasing needs to stay current in training, technology and equipment, and communication and partnership efforts with the community.

Foundation support empowers our Police Department to provide the best available programs in the areas of education, training, technology, communications, youth outreach and community partnerships.

Your support is key to creating the opportunities for the partnership, preparedness and recognition our public safety professionals need and deserve. LBPF gratefully accepts donations of any size.
